How we compare
Not a wearable. Not a training plan. A third thing.
DecisionEngine replaces neither your watch nor your race goal — it translates both into a daily decision, vendor-neutral and without locking you to one device.
01
Whoop, Oura & co: a score, not a decision
These devices tell you how recovered you are. They don't tell you what to actually train today.
- A score you interpret yourself. Whoop and Oura give you a recovery/readiness number — translating it into sport, duration and intensity is still on you.
- DecisionEngine takes it one step further. The same signal types (HRV, resting heart rate, sleep) lead to a concrete recommendation with reasoning — not a number you have to interpret yourself.
- No conflict. Whoop and Oura can be connected as a data source — DecisionEngine doesn't replace the wearable, it translates its value into a decision.
02
Garmin, COROS, Suunto: the ecosystem only rates itself
Each watch mainly sees what it recorded itself.
- Tied to one device. These ecosystems' training assessments rely mainly on their own recordings — other sources barely factor in.
- DecisionEngine deliberately pools multiple sources. Garmin, Strava, Polar, Wahoo, WHOOP, Apple Health and more feed into one athlete profile at once — vendor-neutral, deduplicated.
- Switch devices without losing anything. Switch watches and you keep your training history with us — the profile belongs to the athlete, not the device.
03
TrainingPeaks, TrainerRoad, Zwift: the plan is already set
A weekly plan is written before the week starts. It doesn't know about your brutal Wednesday at the office.
- Planned in advance. These platforms fix the week and the day in advance — the session is set before the day has even begun.
- DecisionEngine doesn't plan ahead. The decision happens minutes before training, with the current state — last night's sleep and yesterday evening's session included.
- No conflict with a race goal. A goal still sets phase tolerances — base, build, peak, taper. Only the individual day isn't prescribed.
04
For honesty's sake: what DecisionEngine isn't
- Not a replacement for a GPS device on your wrist. DecisionEngine needs an existing data source — an Apple Watch or a connected provider.
- No cloud AI. Everything is computed on the iPhone. There's no server of ours that raw data is sent to.
- Not a medical device. The app gives training recommendations, not a medical diagnosis or treatment.
